Large data centers should pay the full cost of new power plants and grid upgrades built to serve them.
Utilities often spread the cost of new power plants and transmission lines across all their customers. This would charge the cost of capacity built for large data centers, many of them serving artificial intelligence, to those data centers.

It's just common sense: data centers and other large-load consumers shouldn't be given a free pass to hike electric rates or other utility costs in our communities–they should pay their own way.
