Nebraska should build the Perkins County Canal to divert water from the South Platte River.
The Perkins County Canal would use a 1923 compact right to divert South Platte water in Colorado, and lawmakers have set aside hundreds of millions of dollars for it. Building it would secure more water for Nebraska at high cost.
