Hawaii should import liquefied natural gas to fuel its power plants.
Hawaii generates much of its electricity by burning imported oil, and state officials have studied switching some plants to liquefied natural gas as a lower-cost step. Importing it would require new terminals or ships and add another fossil fuel to the grid.
